An estimated 75 to 85% of Americans will suffer from some form of back pain. While many of these people will experience relief without any treatment, the portion which don’t, have few options. Surgery, steroid injections, medic
ations, and conventional physical therapy are about the limit. There is, however, one alternative proven to relieve lower back and neck pain without surgery, injections, and in a large number of patients, medication.

The memorial Back Institute has been treating patients since 2002. We have provided therapy for over 1000 patients with lower back and neck pain. We are dedicated to providing our patients quality care with personal attention. Each patient receives a treatment regime tailored to their specific condition. We respect our patient’s time; therefore, we do our best to see our patients in a timely manner and accommodate your work schedule as best as possible.
Dr. Sally Thomas, Board Certified In Family Medicine
Dr. Sally Thomas also grew up in Houston, Texas. She graduated from
Houston Baptist University with degrees in Biology and Chemistry. She
later went to medical school at the University of North Texas- Health
Science Center in Ft. Worth, Texas. She completed her Family Medicine
residency at the University of Texas – Houston where she met her
husband, Dr. Van Tran. She is board certified in Family Medicine. She
has been practicing with her husband, Dr. Tran, for the last eight
years. They have two children together. Her special areas of interests
are issues with women’s health, medical weight loss, hypertension, and
diabetes. She is also trained in Botox, Juvederm, and aesthetic laser
procedures. She is a member of American Medical Association (AMA),
Texas Medical Association (TMA) and American Academy of Family Practice
(AAFP). Dr. Thomas has been named in the Who's Who Directory of Doctors
2008 for her outstanding work in family medicine.
Dr. Van Tran, Board Certified in Family Medicine
Dr. Van Tran is a native of Houston, Texas. He graduated from the
University of Texas - Austin with a degree in Biology. He later went to
medical school at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida. He returned to Houston, Texas to complete his Family Medicine
residency at the University of Texas – Houston. He trained at Memorial
Herman Hospital and LBJ Hospital. He is board certified in Family
Medicine. His special areas of interest are workmen’s compensation
issues, medical weight loss, minor surgical procedures, hypertension and
diabetes. He is also trained in Botox, Juvederm, and aesthetic laser
procedures. He is a member of American Medical Association (AMA), Texas
Medical Association (TMA) and American Academy of Family Practice (AAFP).
Thomas Tobin, Certified IDD therapist
Thomas moved to Houston after 14 years in the Air Force where he worked as a Medical Technician. During his military career, as Thomas moved up the ranks to Technical Sergeant he worked in many areas of medicine including In-patient units, Labor and Delivery, Emergency Room both in house and ambulance service, and took on many duties including Supervisor of one of 3 Family Practice Elements, CPR and EMT instructor, and Independent Duty Medical Technician(IDMT). As a highly decorated NCO, his accomplishments include: EMT Intermediate, Honor Graduate in Airman Leadership School, and IDMT training.
Thomas is a Nationaly Registered Certified Medical Assistant and Certified IDD provider. He has been supervising the Memorial Back Institute for 5 years.
